About

Who I Am
I’m Sondra Hoffman, an independent technology advisor working with trades, construction, and service-based businesses. I’m based in Northern California and work with clients regionally and remotely.
I help organizations get control of their documents, evaluate software before they commit to it, build reporting they can trust, and make technology decisions grounded in how the work actually gets done โ not in how a vendor demo says it should.
What I’ve Built My Practice On
Over a decade of experience in data analysis, contract administration, document management, and operational strategy โ inside the kinds of businesses I now advise. I’ve built and evaluated the systems that run real operations from the ground up, not just consulted on them from a distance.
My practice is built on independent judgment, transparent relationships, no referral incentives, and evidence-based evaluation. I don’t resell software. I don’t receive referral fees. When I work with vendors in an advisory capacity, those relationships are disclosed and don’t shape what I recommend to you.
How I Work
The starting point is always the same: understand the real problem before recommending the tool.
- Map how work actually flows through your organization โ not how the org chart says it should
- Identify where documents, data, and decisions are fragmenting or duplicating
- Evaluate whether the problem is a software gap, a process gap, or both
- Provide clear, evidence-based evaluation criteria grounded in your specific operation
- Design implementation paths your team can actually execute and maintain
The goal: one version of reality across your systems, so your team operates with confidence instead of friction.
What I Work With
The analytical foundation behind every recommendation:
- Document management and workflow strategy โ the core of most engagements
- Data modeling and reporting โ Power BI, SQL, DAX, and the systems that feed them
- Software evaluation frameworks โ vendor-independent assessment built on real workflows
- AI readiness and automation assessment โ separating genuine use cases from vendor hype
- Workflow automation โ Python, JavaScript, and cloud tools where they actually fit
What You Can Explore
The best way to understand how I work is to see it:
- Services โ the full picture of what I offer and how engagements are structured
- Portfolio โ case studies showing what this looks like in practice
- Field Service Software Buyer’s Guide โ a free, independent guide for contractors evaluating FSM platforms
- AI Readiness Matrix โ a free framework for deciding whether AI fits a given process
- Blog โ industry perspective on technology decisions, AI governance, and software evaluation
If something here is relevant to a problem you’re sitting with, get in touch. The first conversation is free and diagnostic โ not a sales pitch.
